How to avoid punctures

Post by forsherl » 07 Aug 2015 08:09

I swear that I have been too careful to watch the road – A pothole , a stone , broken glass or piece of metal ,I have checked my tyres monthly. But they still got punctures yesterday.I use carbon fixed gear wheels, the cycling tyre pressure is 120psi.

Buy sturdier tires. I´ve had gatorskin hardshell for years and not a single puncture. They are a bit slower then race tires, but the folding version is still very light.

There is GP 4 season as well, a bit faster, a bit less durable.

If you only cycle around on the cheapest tires, you will have a lot of flats.

not in my experience. cheap tires wear faster and are slower but they often have plenty of puncure protection and thick sidewalls that decrese the risk of pinch flats.

Keep your bike in the flat, at all times.

Old thread but still...

I often got punctures on my Weinmann deep v:s, they were always on the same spot and they looked like regular snakebites however they occured "just like that", regular easy rolling down the street and suddenly POOOF!

I tried different tubes, I saw that other people had the same problem on differnet forums...
It stopped when I installed high pressure rim tape

Any tips on how to avoid small glass punctures? The Skanstullbron and Götgatan are a damn minefield. Is riding a bit on the flat side any help?

And maybe some Gatorskin Hardshell.

Glass is mean though, had a huge tear in the tyre last year.
